Wendy Van Camp Poet Laureate Emerita

Wendy Van Camp is Anaheim’s Poet Laureate Emerita. A dynamic voice in speculative poetry, Wendy blends cutting-edge technology, astronomy, and daydreams into her poetry. Her talent has earned her nominations for the Elgin Award, Pushcart Prize, Rhysling, and Dwarf Stars Award. Wendy’s poems, stories, and articles grace journals worldwide such as “Indie Author Magazine,” “Star*Line,” “Scifaikuest,” “Words of IF,” and “San Diego Poetry Annual.”

Wendy is the editor of four issues of “Eccentric Orbits: an anthology of science fiction poetry” published by Dimensionfold. She is the inaugural editor and creator of the first two issues of “Anaheim Poetry Review” a community poetry anthology for the City of Anaheim. She has been a guest editor for “Eye to the Telescope #46” an online speculative poetry magazine published by the (SFPA) The Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association. Her debut poetry collection, “The Planets,” earned an Elgin nomination in 2020 and 2021.

An active podcaster, you can see Wendy as a panelist on the “Con-Tinual” stable of podcasts “Fandom” and “The Panel Room” and “The SciFi Roundtable Podcast.” You can hear her on her own audio podcast, “No Wasted Ink Ramblecast.”

As a member of SFWA, SFPA, and IBPA, Wendy is a passionate advocate for the speculative poetry community and Indie Authors. She is Co-Chair of the Poetry Committee and part of the team who developed the new Nebula Award for Poetry at SFWA.

Wendy Van Camp is based in Southern California. She is an author, poet, public speaker, workshop instructor, podcaster and artist. She has a BA in Radio/Television/Film from Cal State Long Beach.
