Wendy Van Camp Poet Laureate Emerita

Wendy Van Camp is Anaheim’s Poet Laureate Emerita. A dynamic voice in speculative poetry, Wendy blends cutting-edge technology, astronomy, and daydreams into her poetry. Her talent has earned her nominations for the Elgin Award, Pushcart Prize, Rhysling, and Dwarf Stars Award. Wendy’s poems, stories, and articles grace journals worldwide such as “Star*Line,” “Scifaikuest,” “Words of IF,” and “San Diego Poetry Annual” and also regularly contributes to “Indy Author Magazine” as a contracted freelancer. Wendy is the editor of “Eccentric Orbits: an anthology of science fiction poetry” and inaugural editor of “Anaheim Poetry Review” a community poetry anthology for the City of Anaheim. She edited the first two issues as part of her duties as Poet Laureate for the city. She was also a guest editor for “Eye to the Telescope #46” an online poetry magazine published by the (SFPA) The Science Fiction & Fantasy Poetry Association.

An active podcaster, you can see Wendy as a panelist on the “Con-Tinual” stable of podcasts “Fandom” and “The Panel Room” and “The SciFi Roundtable Podcast.” You can hear her as a rotating host of “Poets Cafe” on KPFK 90.7 FM Los Angeles or on her own audio podcast “No Wasted Ink Ramblecast.” As a member of SFWA, SFPA, and IBPA, Wendy is a passionate advocate for the speculative community and Indie Authors. Her debut poetry collection, “The Planets,” was nominated for the Elgin Award.
